Former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile announced on Monday, June 27 that he tested positive for Covid-19.
Enrile on his personal Facebook handle pens a letter to his friends, critics, and enemies.
“To all my FB friends, critics, and enemies: Please bear with me. I am in the hospital. To my critics and enemies: Do not clap with glee. I am not going to die yet. Far from it,” he wrote.
Enrile turned 98 in February.
The incoming Presidential Legal Counsel in the post also shared updates on his health, saying he has been at the Makati Medical Center for three days after being diagnosed “positive" for Covid virus.
“I never had any discomfort. No chills. No fever. No headache. No malaise. My body temperature ranges from 36* to 36.8*. My body oxygen ranges from 96 to 99,” he said.
“All my physical vital signs and blood chemistry readings were normal. The only thing I had was a dry intermittent, sometimes intense, coughing The CT-SCAN showed that I had mild COVID-19 pneumonia.”
Furthermore, Enrile said he had already informed incoming Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez about his condition and had asked him to inform incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and ask him that he may be excused from attending the oath taking ceremonies this Thursday, June 30 as he will still be in the hospital by then to complete the Anti-viral regimen prescribed by his doctors.
