MRT-3 free ride extended until June 30

The Department of Transportation Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (DOTr MRT-3) Management on Wednesday, May 25 announced the extension of its “Libreng Sakay” program until June 30, 2022.

DOTr MRT-3 said the free ride program will remain available to all passengers anytime from 4:40 AM. and 10:10 PM.

In a statement, DOTr Secretary Art Tugade said the program enables commuters to save money and experience the comfort and convenience of the new MRT-3.

“Napagdesisyunan po natin na i-extend ang LIBRENG SAKAY ng isa pang buwan para na rin mas marami pang pasahero ang makinabang at matulungan ng programa,” he said.

Since its launch on March 28, 2022, MRT-3 has served a total of 15,730,872 passengers under the free ride program, with 315,334 passengers taking the MRT-3 on average during weekdays. 

MRT-3 OIC-General Manager and Director for Operations Michael J. Capati said the extension will further allow the MRT-3 to test its capacity and performance following the completion of its full-scale rehabilitation.

“We hope to cater to more passengers with the extension of the FREE RIDE program, as well as showcase the improved services of the MRT-3 and restore the public's confidence in our mass transport system,” Capati said.
