The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is now conducting a thorough study regarding the provision of health insurance to students who will participate in the reopening of face-to-face classes in the country.
According to CHED Chairman Prospero de Vera, there was a meeting between CHED and representatives of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease of some universities about the possible implementation of a health insurance policy.
At the said meeting, De Vera suggested to a medical insurer that they could put PhilHealth’s budget in the coverage of students even for just one year while COVID-19 is still in control in the country.
In this regard, the Department of Health (DOH) said that they are still looking for other ways to fund medical insurance for students.
