Islamic leaders on Monday dropped their support to presidential aspirant Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and officially backed the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.
In a press conference in Zamboanga City, a group of muslim leaders said endorsing Robredo is part of their patriotic duty.
Among the muslim leaders are Sheikh Mahir Gustahaman, chair of the United Imams of the Philippines-Zambasulta Region; Sheikh Fahad Haris, president Almanara Foundation, Inc.; Sheikh Musial Harun, president Kulliyatud Dirasat Al Islamiya Cllege of Islamic Studies; Sheikh Yahya Totong, president Muslim Leaders Assembly; S. UST. Abdulmubin Dalun, president Basilian Huffadz Al-Qur-Anil Karin Association, Inc.; Prof. Abdulham Mohammad, president Maluso Madaris Association; and Prof. Alzad Saitar, Member of Parliament, BARMM.
It was Maluso (Basilan) Mayor Hani Bud who welcomed their pledge of support on behalf of Robredo.
The switch came after Domagoso’s controversial Easter Sunday press conference where he called on the VP to withdraw from the presidential race.

Just recently, Volunteer group Ikaw Muna Pilipinas (IM Pilipinas) Visayas chapter has shifted support, also from Isko to Leni.
