Presidential Adviser on Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion encourages those who have not yet received a booster shot to get inoculated as many vaccines currently in stock will expire in June.
In a statement by Conception on Thursday, he cited data from the National Vaccination Operation Center, which showed that of the 73 percent who were fully vaccinated in March, only 13 percent had a booster shot.
In the National Capital Region, which has a high percentage of vaccinated, only 30 percent received their booster shots. Meanwhile in the provinces with a fully vaccinated rate of 75 percent, only between 11 to 16 percent got booster shots, the official added.
“You haven't been fully vaccinated unless you have a booster shot. While we're okay now, we can't be sure about the second half of the year, when antibodies will go down for most (of the vaccines),” he maintained
After a surge in Omicron variant cases in January, Covid-19 cases in the country continue to go down. Metro Manila and several more regions are now deemed low risk for coronavirus transmission.
"After that, when will we acquire vaccines to address diminishing immunity? The vaccines are available right now, and were pushing people to receive them while they still can," he added.
Moreover, extensive booster vaccinations will eventually lead to the lifting of the country's state of public health emergency, which is still at least restrictive alert level 1, per Concepcion.
