TOKYO, Japan — North Korea has notified Japan of a plan..
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will resume its "Operation Baklas" or removal of prohibited campaign materials on Friday, as the official 45-day campaign period for candidates for local positions in the May 9 polls starts.
"By then, all candidates for district congressman, governor and vice governor down to city and municipal councilors will be covered already by Comelec's regulation on allowable campaign materials," Comelec Commissioner George Garcia said on Tuesday.
According to Garcia, based on the temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Supreme Court, the only exceptions are campaign posters and tarpaulins posted on private properties.
"So, all posters and tarpaulins outside of the authorized poster areas of both national and local candidates would be torn down," Garcia said.
