As the Philippines continue to loosen travel restrictions, up to 12,000 passengers per day are expected to arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Bureau of Immigration said on Monday.
"A few weeks after the implementation of the reduced travel restrictions, there are 6,000-8,000 arrivals per day of passengers Filipinos and foreigners," Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente-said, adding that the arrivals are a mix of Pinoys and foreigners and it has risen in recent weeks.
With things slowly going back to normal as cases continue to decrease, more foreign travelers are expected to enter the country, especially this summer.
Carlos Capulong, the chief of the BI port operations division, said that they have already deployed 100% of airport their personnel and are ready to conduct documents inspection for all arriving passengers. Their e-gates are also operational, which helps to speed up processing time.
