If he wins the upcoming national elections in May, presidential aspirant Senator Manny Pacquiao said he will appoint CIBAC party-list chair and religious leader Bishop Eddie Villanueva as corruption czar.
Asked why, Pacquiao explained that Villanueva, founder of Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church, is “God-fearing and does not compromise.”
Villanueva serves as the deputy speaker of CIBAC (Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption) party list, which advocates against graft and corruption and cronyism, according to its website. The party list is one of the nearly 200 candidates seeking a slot in the house of representatives this election.
If elected to the highest position, Pacquiao vows to eliminate corruption in the government, saying that it causes mass poverty and hinders economic growth.
