Vice presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Wednesday evening introduced senatorial aspirant actor Robin Padilla as the last candidate to complete their senatorial slate.
“Una po sa mga kasamahan namin sa Uniteam, 12 na po kami ngayong araw na ito,” the mayor said, and then went on to recite the 12 names under their slate. The last one was Padilla.
However, her running mate, presidential aspirant former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. says he’s not.
During his speech, Marcos Jr. noted that while the actor-turned-politician is part of the UniTeam, he is not part of the lineup.
“Alam niyo po, si Robin Padilla, kahit hindi po namin kasama ‘yan sa lineup ng mga senador ay matagal na po naming naging kaibigan ‘yan,” Marcos said.
“At kaya naman eh kahit na hindi siya technically naisama, eh pagka-nandiyan siya, kapag mayroon siyang panahon, eh sinasama namin,” he added.
In an interview after the rally, Padilla explained that there are no formal talks yet on his inclusion in the BBM-Sara tandem and noted that he’s under the mayor.
“Wala pa pong pormal na usapan kasi po ‘yung sa amin ni Ma’am Sara, ano po ‘yun e, talagang ako’y nasa ilalim niya,” he said.
The BBM-Sara tandem remain frontrunners in the 2020 polls, according to surveys.
