A day before her term ends, Vice President Leni Robredo..
Vice President Leni Robredo suspended her office’s COVID-19 programs while waiting for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to allow the initiatives to continue during the campaign period.
Robredo said the Office of the Vice President (OVP) has requested an exemption for her projects which include the bayanihan E-Konsulta, Swab Cab,Vaccine Express, and medical assistance.
Per Comelec Resolution 10747, candidates are required to file for a certificate of exception for their social welfare projects and services, in connection with the May 2022 national elections.
“We are requesting for an exemption because while cases go down, we see the number of people asking for help every day,” Robredo said during her weekly radio show on Sunday.
“So, hopefully, the exemption would be granted so we can resume.”
The vice president said she was present during the hearing regarding the request last week.
Robredo added that if granted the exemption, she will not be present in the projects anymore. She noted that her office has redesigned their logos so the initiatives will not be identified with her.
