Fully vaccinated travelers who wish to enter Aklan and visit the world-famous island of Boracay are no longer required to present a negative RT-PCR test result.
Aklan Governor Florencio “Joeben” Tumbocon Miraflores on Tuesday, February 1 issued an executive order scrapping the negative RT-PCR test result requirement to gain entry to Aklan and Boracay. This is following the national government’s decision to exempt fully-vaccinated tourists from mandatory quarantine.
This latest move by the province is expected to jumpstart the return of local and international tourists to the famous island.
Nonetheless, under the EO, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals still need to present negative RT-PCR test results taken not later than 72 hours prior to their entry in the province.
It was on January 5 when Aklan reinstated the negative RT-PCR result as a requirement for tourists to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
