Employees who unfortunately lost their jobs or whose work was suspended due to the implementation of Alert Level 3 status are eligible to apply for a one-time P5,000 worth of cash aid, the Department of Labor and Employment clarified (DOLE) on January 24, Monday.
In an interview with GMA News’ Unang Balita, DOLE Undersecretary Dominique Tutay informed that all employees, whether regular, contractual, probationary, or casual, including agency-hired employed in a principal company, are eligible to receive cash aid.
The DOLE is seeing around 200,000 who will apply for the P5,000 cash aid in Metro Manila and other areas, as well, said Tutay.
Tutay said the affected workers will receive the cash aid within two weeks upon submitting the application. DOLE announced on Saturday, January 22, that it will begin accepting applications for cash assistance on Monday, January 24.
An amount of P1 billion has been allotted by the DOLE for financial assistance under the COVID Adjustment Measure Program (CAMP) 2022.
Along with the completed documentary requirements, applications shall be completed online through DOLE’s website.
Those who are qualified for the cash aid program are workers who lost their jobs because of the permanent closure of their companies, and employees whose work was suspended due to the temporary closure of their company under Alert Level 3.
Metro Manila and other areas have been placed under Alert Level 3 until January 31, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
Alert Level 3 status allows several establishments to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity, but exclusively only for fully vaccinated people, and 50% outdoor venue capacity, given that all employees have been fully vaccinated.
