Printing of the official ballots for the 2022 national and local elections have started on Thursday, January 20, COMELEC announced.
Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Spokesperson James Jimenez informed on Thursday night that the agency has started printing official ballots for the upcoming national and local elections on May 9, 2022.
According to Jimenez, the first set of around 60,000 ballots to be printed are for the Local Absentee Voting (LAV).
“Printing of official Local Absentee Voting ballots will begin tonight (approximately 7 p.m.) at the National Printing Office,” he announced in a statement.
On Wednesday, January 19, COMELEC announced that it has reset the start of the printing of the official ballots for the national and local elections to Thursday due to technical factors.
Jimenez assured the public that the rescheduling won’t affect the preparations for the upcoming 2022 polls.
Moreover, he said the next ballots to be printed are 79,000 manual ballots meant for overseas voters, then some 86,000 ballots for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
COMELEC is set to print over 67 million ballots for the May 9, 2022 national and local elections.
