TOKYO, Japan — North Korea has notified Japan of a plan..
The Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) administrative committee on Tuesday recommended filing of legal complaint against pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena.
The development comes after the sports association conducted its investigation on the Olympian’s alleged non-payment of the coaching fees to his coach, Vitaly Petrov, as well as his falsification of liquidation documents.
Furthermore, the investigative body also recommended that the champion pole vaulter be expelled from the national team.
Below is the full list of “recommendations” by the PATAFA Investigative Committee.
The recommendations have been approved by the PATAFA's Board of Trustees and will be acted upon Jan. 4.
Obiena currently ranks No. 6 in the world and holds the Asian pole vault record.
In November 2021, amid Obiena’s rift with PATAFA, athletics coach Jim Lafferty revealed that the Filipino pole vaulter had been getting multiple passport offers from other countries.
