Effective January 5, the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will be under Alert Level 3 due to the sharp increase of COVID-19 cases, Malacañang announced on Tuesday.
Acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles in a statement said: “Due to a sharp increase of COVID-19 cases in the particular localities, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved yesterday, January 3, 2022, the recommendation of its sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics to escalate Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal to Alert Level 3.”
The stricter alert level will be imposed in the aforementioned provinces from January 5, 2022 until January 15, 2022.
In late December, the government also placed the nation’s capital under Alert Level 3 after a spike in the number of Covid-19 daily cases.
Under the said alert level, several establishments will be allowed to operate at a limited capacity only: 30% for indoor venue capacity only for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.
On Monday, the country confirmed a total of 4,084 new cases, lower than the 4,600 on Sunday but is relatively higher than the 318 cases on December 27, 2021.
