The provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will be placed under Alert Level 3 beginning Wednesday, January 5, due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the areas, Malacañang announced.
“Due to a sharp increase of COVID-19 cases in the particular localities, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) approved yesterday, January 3, 2022, the recommendation of its sub-Technical Working Group on Data Analytics to escalate Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal to Alert Level 3,” acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles said on Tuesday.
The said localities will be under alter level 3 until January 15.
The announcement follows Metro Manila’s shift to Alert Level 3 from January 3 to 15.
Under the alert level, establishments including restaurants, personal care, and churches, are allowed to operate at 30 percent indoor capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 50 percent outdoor capacity.
On Monday, the Philippines logged 4,084 new COVID-19 infections. The country was also reclassified as “high risk” for the virus according to the Department of Health (DOH).
