A day before her term ends, Vice President Leni Robredo..
Senator Bong Go announced his withdrawal from the 2022 presidential race on Tuesday, November 30, saying his family is against his bid for the national position.
Diyos lang po ang nakakaalam kung kailan talaga ang tamang panahon,” he said in an interview during the celebration of Bonifacio Day in San Juan City.
Go first filed his candidacy for vice president under the ruling party, PDP-Laban. He withdrew his bid following Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s announcement that she is running for vice presidency.
He then filed his candidacy for the presidency via substitution under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) party, a PDP-Laban ally.
PDP-Laban president Alfonso Cusi said the party respects Go’s decision to withdraw. The energy chief added that they will meet with the party’s national council to discuss their way forward.
