For the second time this year, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana got infected with COVID-19 again.
Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana tested positive anew for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). He confirmed the circulating reports on Wednesday night, stating that he tested positive for the virus a day after he attended a Senate hearing regarding the 2020 budget of the agency. He is asymptomatic.
“Hello everyone, yes, I am Covid positive. This morning I got the result of my swab test yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon after the Senate hearing. I am asymptomatic," the Defense Secretary stated in a message, confirming that he got infected again with the disease.
Lorenzana added that he has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Yes, I’m fully vaxxed. I’ll observe myself for several days after that I’ll have another swab (test),” he said.
The DND Secretary already tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time this year. He first got infected last April, and immediately went on quarantine to avoid infecting other DND personnel.
He then tested negative for COVID-19 in March and April after coming into close contact with people who are infected with the virus.
According to reports, the Defense chief had just returned home after conducting official trips to Poland and Spain last week.
