The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the voting period for the May 9, 2022 elections will run an hour longer than the last general polls, from 6 AM to 7 PM.
Speaking in a House committee hearing on Wednesday, November 11, Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo said he poll body en banc has already approved the schedule.
The Commissioner also announced that voting precincts would likely still accommodate voters within 30 meters from the polling center.
The poll body previously said that longer voting hours would be necessary for the next election to ensure physical distancing, in light of the still looming threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
