As part of its effort to boost its domestic tourism recovery program, the Department of Tourism announced the roll out of its free RT-PCR tests for some local travelers.
“As travel restrictions continue to ease up, we aim to encourage more tourists to visit their destination of choice by providing a full subsidy on RT-PCR testing," Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat said.
"This program helps ensure the safety of tourists, tourism workers, and local stakeholders in various destinations,” the chief added.
The free anti-Covid testing will be done under the new phase of the agency’s financial subsidy program under the Tourism Promotions Board.
On Monday, Nov. 1, the testing began for the first 350 applicants who have been granted free RT-PCR tests at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). The DOT is eyeing to test around 12,000 qualified domestic tourists until the end of the year.
