Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III clarified that vaccination is not required for all employees, except for those working in businesses such as restaurants and spas.
According to Bello, a resolution from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) is a legal basis to require the employees of select businesses to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Per the said measure, under Alert Level 3, establishments such as restaurants and spas are allowed to open their indoor services at 30 percent capacity and alfresco services at 50 percent capacity provided that their workers are fully vaccinated.

“There is still no legal basis for mandatory vaccination for all workers. The IATF resolution issued is for a few businesses. Like restaurants and spas, they are allowed to offer in dine-in services or in-person services provided that employees are vaccinated,” the labor secretary explained.
Meanwhile, in an interview with CNN Philippines, Bello also cleared that employers cannot fire their workers who refuse to get vaccinated. He said there is still no law mandating the vaccination of all employees.
