The Department of Health (DOH) logged only 4,496 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, October 19. This is the lowest number in three months, as seven laboratories were unable to submit data.
"The relatively low cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday, October 17," DOH said in its bulletin.
The fresh COVID-19 cases raise the total number of cases to 2,731,735. Of the number, 63,637 or 2.3 percent are active. Meanwhile, 9,609 recoveries were added to the list, increasing the total to 2,627,126.
Death toll rose to 40,972 after 211 more deaths were logged.
According to the health agency, based on data in the past 14 days, the seven labs that failed to submit their data account for 2.8 percent of the total samples and 2 percent of the total positive infections.
