Metro Manila will be observing shorter curfew hours beginning Wednesday, October 13, Metro Manila Council chaIr Edwin Olivarez confirmed.
Starting Wednesday, all cities in the capital region will observe a unified curfew from 12 midnight to 4 AM.
Currently, the curfew in the region is from 10 PM to 4 AM.
The restrictions are eased as the COVID-19 transmission in NCR is slowing down. According to Olivarez, the move is also aimed to help businesses and workers in reopening the country’s economy.
Currently, Metro Manila is under Alter Level 4 which is the second-highest classification in the alert system. Olivarez said that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will meet to discuss the alert level after October 15.
The Palace earlier said that it is possible to shift the capital region to a more lax alert level. This is as intensive care capacity in the region is at moderate risk and the reproduction number also continues to lower.
