The Philippines received a total of 918,450 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through the COVAX Facility on Sunday, October 10.
The shots are among the latest shipments of coronavirus shots to arrive in the country. They landed at the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and were welcomed by vaccine czar Carlito Gavez Jr. and US Charge d’Affaires Heather Variava.
A total of 1.8 million Pfizer doses will be delivered through COVAX this week as part of the United States’ donation. The second batch is expected to arrive on Monday.
The US has now donated a total of 21 million shots of coronavirus vaccine to the Philippines through COVAX, Variava said.
Currently, the country has administered over 47.7 million doses of COVID19- vaccines. This accounts for some 22.4 million Filipinos vaccinated and over 25.3 million immunized with at least one dose of the vaccine.
