Netizens laud Willie Revillame for admitting he's not qualified for a national position

Kapuso host Willie Revillame on Thursday, October 7 said that he won’t run in the 2022 elections despite being convinced by President Rodrigo Duterte’s camp.

“Sa araw na ito, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang Wowowin,” the host said. “Hindi ko po kailangan kumandidato. Hindi ko po kailangan manalo. Ang kailangan ko ay makasama kayo, dahil sa puso ko, sa isip ko, dapat laging ang mga Pilipino, kayo ang panalo. Ang programang ito na Wowowin ay ginawa para sa inyo.”

Revillame then admitted that he doesn't have enough knowledge in the field and people’s votes could be wasted.

“Kung sakaling tatakbo ako sa senado hindi naman ako magaling mag-English, wala akong alam sa batas, baka lait-laiitin ako roon. Baka wala rin naman ako maiambag na batas, o dumating yung time na sayang din yung boto niyo sa akin,” he said. 

“COC? the last day of filing is tomorrow. Hindi ko kakayanin pumasok sa isang bagay na wala akong kakayahan. Dapat pag pinasok mo ang isang bagay dapat mag-excel ka at nakakagawa ng kabutihan at tama.”

“Good call, Kuya Will”

On social media, netizens laud the host for his honesty and acknowledging what he can and can’t do.

“When Kuya Will said: “You do not need a position to help!” Willie Revillame just gained my respect!!!!!” one Twitter user wrote. “This Mindset, spitting facts about himself not being qualified for a national position. Yes please we prefer you helping people without being in a position.”

“Buti pa si Willie Revillame.. yes sir, and you don't have to be a politician to help and serve people. I am not your fan but you gained my respect,” another wrote.

Netizens also didn’t help but compare Revillame to other celebrities who ran for the election despite lacking track record.

They wrote, “Willie Revillame admitting that he doesn’t have the right qualifications to run for a national office should be a reflective reminder to all celebrities and political dynasty babies. Robin Padilla, did you hear that?” 

“Thank God Willie Revillame was enlightened!!! Sana yung iba din!!!” another tweeted.
