Ilocos Norte is hoping to jumpstart its tourism industry as quarantine restrictions begin to be relaxed.
On Monday, the province officially reopened its borders to leisure travelers from other areas of the country.
According to Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc, the reopening would revive the province’s tourism sector that was badly affected by the current pandemic.
Requirements
The local guidelines state that leisure travelers coming from areas under Covid-19 Alert Level 4 are required to present negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results taken within 72 hours, or a negative rapid antigen test results taken within 24 hours, before their travel regardless of their vaccination status.
On the other hand, travelers coming from areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), modified GCQ, Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3 areas are required to present a negative antigen test result.
Apart for the test results, they also require online registration and QR code from SafePass.
Among the many tourist spots you can visit in Ilocos Norte are the Bangui Windmills in Bangui bay, the Suba Sand Dunes in Paoay, the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation and Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos, the infamous Paoay Church, and Pagudpud Beach.
