Former senator JV Ejercito, during an online conference on Friday, September 24, confirmed his bid for the Senate in the upcoming 2022 elections.
Ejercito is again gunning for a senatorial seat after losing in the 2019 elections. Seeking a comeback in the Senate, he said that he will focus on his advocacy for Universal Health Care and strengthening the health care system in the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The lawmaker added he is banking on his clean record for this election.
“Ang aking track record na walang bahid na pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan. Kahit kapos sa panggastos sa kampanya, ang aking malinis na pangalan at aking track record ang aking magiging pambato sa halalan,” Ejercito said.
In 2019, he and his half-brother, Jinggoy Estrada, both ran for senator but lost, placing 13th and 15th respectively in the final tally.
Ejercito confirmed his bid just a week before the filing of certificate of candidacy. So far, a few other senatorial candidates have confirmed their bid including Atty. Chel Diokno and Atty. Neri Colmenares.
