Will this be the final decision?
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday evening, September 22 announced that he had approved the Technical Advisory Group’s (TAG) recommendation to limit the use of face shields to the so-called “3Cs”— “closed and crowded” spaces, and activities that “promote close contact.”
“Puwede na tanggalin sa labas. No more face shields outside. Ang limitasyon, ang face shield gamitin mo [sa] three ‘Cs’,” Duterte said. “Iyang tatlo na iyan, face shield is a must pa rin. Iyan ang recommendation."
Before the announcement, the Philippines was the only country in the world that required face shields both indoors and outdoors.
To recall, on September 10, Duterte said that while face shields do not provide full protection, it could still control the transmission of the Covid-19 virus.
On June 21, the president also ordered to limit the use of face shields in hospitals but retracted the order in the evening of the same day.
