Despite being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Miss Universe 2011-turned National director Shamcey Supsup-Lee recounted her experience in unexpectedly catching the illness.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, September 12, former Miss Universe Philippines Shamcey Supsup-Lee revealed she has now recovered from COVID-19 after battling with the disease for weeks.
"A few weeks ago, what we all thought was just a simple flu turned out to be covid." Miss Universe Philippines 2011-turned-Miss Universe Philippines National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee recounted in her post how she battled with COVID-19. She said getting infected came as a shock as they were fully vaccinated.
“It came as a shock because we were all fully vaccinated but we still got infected and even had mild to moderate symptoms,” she added.
The former beauty queen described the illness as “a really really bad flu,” and shared that it was also the first time she experienced losing completely her sense of smell and taste.
Fortunately for Shamcey and her family, they were able to recover from the disease at home. In the end, she wished for everyone’s safety and well-being, and for the pandemic to end soon.
"Praying for everyone's safety and for the pandemic to end soon.” Supsup-Lee wrote.
Support and prayers for her family poured out in the comments section of her Instagram post. Wishes of full recovery came from several of her fans, celebrity, and beauty queen friends, including Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, singer Ali Forbes, and broadcaster Gretchen Fullido among others.
