Cry if you are sad, cry if you can't handle things, cry if you want to cry. Crying doesn't make you less of a human, crying is your strength for embracing your emotions.
Being emotional completely shows a comfortable relationship with yourself, the widespread stigma in emotional expression is all false.
"Real men do not cry."
"Girls are too emotional."
"Crying is for the weak."
We tend to hear those lines since we were a kid but shedding a tear definitely is not a sign of weakness. Crying is a natural response to an emotional state of either sadness or happiness.
In fact, crying is good for your health.
Psychologically speaking, crying is our way to cope with stress and emotional pain. Even back in the Classical era, physicians of ancient Greece and Rome noted that crying works as a purgative function that drains us off and purifies us.
Instead of keeping hard feelings inside, just release them and let them go — keeping it can be bad for your health.
In the study, psychologists cited what is called repressive coping, or keeping things inside, which affects the mental health conditions leading to stress anxiety, and depression, as well as having a less resilient immune system, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension.
Tears have been divided into three categories according to science. Reflex tears and continuous tears consist of 98% water, it has an important role in removing debris such as smoke and dust, and lubricating the eyes to help them protect from infection. The last category is the emotional tears that release stress hormones and other toxins in our system.
There’s also a satisfying feeling that comes after crying out loud. Researchers found out that crying releases the so-called feel-good chemicals such as oxytocin and endogenous opioids, also known as endorphins that help ease emotional and physical pain.
Get in touch with your buried feeling of sadness, allow yourself to cry if you like it.
End the stigma.
"Crying is not being too emotional."
"Crying is not a sign of weakness."
, and
"Real men cry."
The pain demands to be felt, always remember what was said in the movie Barcelona: A Love Untold, "Crying is good for the soul."
