Congratulations! You have survived the last week of April. Here are five songs by our featured artist, DAY6, for Weekender Jam. If you're not a fan of DAY6, that's okay. They will still heal you. Have a good weekend ahead!
It's the last day of April, and it felt like a breeze that just passed by. Day by day, the year 2021 seemed to be going too fast, and we're all just getting dragged in this flow. It does feel tiring sometimes, if not most of the time, and we can't all deny that we can't wait for the weekend.
As we bid farewell to April and welcome a new chapter of adventures with May, here are five songs by the artist that took the spotlight for the Weekender Jam series, the South Korean band DAY6.
DAY6 is a five-member South Korean band under JYP Entertainment, composed of members Jae, Sungjin, YoungK, Wonpil, and Dowoon. All of them play their respective instruments and participate in composing and producing their tracks.
Without further ado, here are five wonderful, soul-healing, and comforting songs by the super band that can sing for all occasions.
1. You Make Me
DAY6 recently made a comeback as a whole band with the album "The Book of Us: Negentropy - Chaos swallowed up in love" and the title track 'You Make Me.' After a whole year of hiatus from band promotions and activities, the 5-piece band finally returned with all the members to present a whole new musical experience with the conclusion to their 'The Book of Us' series.
'You Make Me' is a song that talks about holding on, even though life is a scary surviving tale, and it feels like the end. DAY6 sang about as long as we have someone who loves us and whom we love, we can survive through this tough life.
"Don’t let go
Cause to me you are
My last ray of hope
My one and only shining light
Hold onto me
Is scary and tough
But I can push through
So long as I
Have your love"
Coming from DAY6's fourth Korean mini-album 'Remember Us: Youth Part 2,' 'Marathon' is a song that talks about taking a pause is all right, you don't have to run. In contrary to its title, DAY6 sang that it's okay even if you walk now; you don't have to overwork yourself, and it's also good to take it easy.
"Don’t you run run run
It’s already been very hard
Is okay (okay)
Rating for a bit is also good
Taking it easy is also good
You don’t have to overwork yourself
Don’t you run run run
It’s already been very hard
Even if you walk now
"When you're with me again
Telling me, "It's okay, it's okay"
Looking at you
My heart feels comfortable (Oh)
Something gets warm (Oh)
At least once a day
You make me laugh"
'Healer' is the third track from their newest album 'The Book of Us: Negentropy - Chaos swallowed up in love.' Just like the title implies, 'Healer' talks about that special someone who 'heals' us after a difficult day even with the simplest comforting words, and their presence. It's also a song that thanks the 'Healer' for being there for us, more particularly the part that says:
"When I call you, you ask
What's wrong, are you okay?
That's enough for me."
4. Better Better
This track from DAY6's second studio album 'Moonrise' starts with a guitar intro, which can immediately comfort you and tell you that it will all be 'better better' after a long day.
Similar to 'Healer,' 'Better Better' is a song that acknowledges and gives thanks to that special someone who gives us a reason to wake up every day.
I lived like I was dead
Became the reason
For me to get up
You made me wanna open my eyes
Just your smile alone
Makes me breathe
Because of you, I’m
5. Feeling Good
The month felt like a drag, most especially because we're all still dealing with the current pandemic. It just makes you feel like you want to let go and enjoy one day with the good weather.
'Feeling Good,' a track from DAY6's third extended play (EP) 'Shoot Me: Youth Part 1,' is a fun song that'll make you want to 'go crazy' (in a good way), jump up, dance, and enjoy the feeling of youth.
It's the perfect song to jam with on a weekend!
"The night feels good
We'll play by ourselves
With this feeling, we'll
Probably go crazy overnight"
Bonus: Working For The Weekend by MAX (feat. eaJ) [Party Pupils Remix]
If this isn't how every day feels like for us... When you listen to this special collaboration track by Max featuring eaJ or Jae of DAY6, it will speak to you on a different level. It's on a spiritual level of relatable.
Days can be extra difficult, and we can't help but be tired. That's okay. You can rest. You did well. Later on, when you have gained your strength back, you can stand up again and continue with the pace you started.
