The newest telecommunications player in the Philippines, DITO Telecommunity Corp., launched its services in selected areas in Visayas and Mindanao on Monday, March 8.
Officials from the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) were present at the virtual launch of DITO. The company is the third telco to enter the Philippines, breaking the duopoly of PLDT Smart and Globe telecom.
“As a partner in nation building, we send a message to the people of the Philippines wherever they may be that DITO is more than just a telco. We are here to serve in this manner,” Chairman and CEO Dennis Uy said.
For its welcome offer, DITO is offering unlimited data, unlimited texts, and calls within the network for P199. The promo runs from March 8 to 31.
Some 3,000 frontliners in Visayas and Mindanao also received free SIM cards and services as part of the company’s “giving back.”
Ten areas in Metro Cebu and five in Metro Davao can now avail DITO services. Meanwhile, Metro Manila will have to wait a few weeks for the launch of its services.
