For the celebration of the 20th anniversary of ‘My Sassy Girl,’ it will be getting a Philippine remake with Toni Gonzaga taking the lead role of the 'sassy girl'!
The hit classic Korean romantic-comedy film “My Sassy Girl” will be getting a Philippine adaptation!
And guess what, Toni Gonzaga will be playing the lead role of ‘My Sassy Girl.’
The joyful news of this remake was announced by TinCan Films on Twitter last January 20, which is the 20th anniversary of the film and also Toni Gonzaga’s 37th birthday!
The Twitter post read, “In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl.”
The post was accompanied by photo stills of Toni’s scenes from the movie adaptation.

Among the shots showed an iconic scene from the original 2001 movie wherein a man played by Cha Tae-Hyun saved a ‘sassy girl,’ played by Jun Ji-Hyun, from getting struck by a train.
TinCan is yet to announce who will be playing as Gonzaga’s leading man in the film.
‘My Sassy Girl’ was the highest-grossing comedy film in South Korea starring South Korea’s well-loved actress Jun Ji-Hyun and actor Cha Tae-Hyun. The film was released in 2001 and had a sequel in 2016, followed by a Korean TV series adaptation in 2018.
