Amid the pandemic, travelers’ choices for an out-of-town trip destination are very limited.
As the Philippines begins to reopen the economy, some tourist spots are also starting to reopen their doors to visitors from all over the country.
Although most provinces allow only resident tourists, here are a few areas that are open for visitors looking for an out-of-town trip destination.
Beginning October 22, the City of Pines will be opening its doors to visitors form all over Luzon. In a post, Baguio Public Information Office confirmed that Mayor Benjie Magalong announced the expansion of the city’s Ridge and Reef program to cater more tourists. However, only 200 visitors will be allowed per day.
Last October 15, the province known for Paoay sand dunes and Pagudpud beaches began to welcome tourists from Luzon. Visitors are required to have a negative RT-PCR test result, released within 48 hours before their arrival.
The famous white sand beach is open to tourists form all over the country. Like Ilocos Norte, Boracay requires its visitors to have negative RT-PCR test issued 72 hours before their travel. Kids and elderly are also welcome to Boracay, as long as they don’t have comorbidities.
Following the effects of Taal eruption earlier this year as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, Tagaytay is again kickstarting its economy as it reopens for tourists. Popular destinations including People’s Park in the Sky, Sky Ranch, and Picnic Grove began accepting visitors in September.
Tourists are required to follow health protocols including the wearing of face masks and social distancing. Visitors below 21 years old and senior citizens, meanwhile, are still prohibited.
The Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga is open to all visitors. Some establishments in Pampanga, including shopping centers and country clubs are also open to all.
To ensure that health protocols are observed, the Department of Tourism (DOT) advise tourists to stay in DOT-accredited hotels and establishments during their trips.
