President Rodrigo Duterte’s Cabinet has approved the one seat apart distancing rule in public transportation, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed on Tuesday.
“Inapubrahan ng Gabinete na sa pampublikong transportasyon one-seat apart na po ang distansya,” Roque said.
Currently, commuters observe one-meter physical distancing in public transportation.
According to Roque, Cabinet officials approved the recommendations of the economic cluster to reopen the economy amid the pandemic.
Roque also said that the seating capacity in public vehicles will gradually be increased, starting from the one-seat apart rule. Seating together with a plastic barrier or the use of UV light will also be allowed.
Strict implementation of health measures in public transportation will also be observed, according to Roque. This includes wearing of face mask and face shield, no talking and eating, adequate ventilation, frequent and proper disinfection, no symptomatic passengers, and physical distancing.
