PLDT to undergo 5-day emergency maintenance activities as part of expanding and boosting of its existing international submarine cable systems.
PLDT announced on late Wednesday that it will undergo emergency maintenance activities on its Asian American Gateway (AAG), which is one of its international cable systems.
In an advisory posted on PLDT’s official Facebook page, it was mentioned that the maintenance activities will be conducted on AAG submarine cables in the waters of Hong Kong SAR, which will run from 8:00 AM of September 25, 2020 (Friday) to 5:00 AM of September 30, 2020 (Wednesday), following Philippine Standard Time.
The maintenance activities are part of PLDT’s expansion and enhancement of existing, as well as new international submarine cable systems like the Jupiter Cable and the Asia Direct Cable systems.
PLDT guaranteed its customers that connectivity will still continue, as they have alternative cable systems to keep their services going during the maintenance period of AAG.
The company added in their network advisory that measures, such as traffic rerouting and local caching, are already in place in order to minimize the activity’s impacts
