Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Friday announced that the city now has its own Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory and it is nearing 100% operations.
Once fully operational, the machine can help solve the city’s ‘difficulty/backlogs’ in testing.
Mayor Sotto on a Tweet said the facility can conduct reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests and enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (Eclia) testing.
Mayor Sotto also asked the people’s help in naming the lab for the Department of Health registration.
The mayor noted they can still use the lab post-covid, for Dengue and HIV tests and it is at the Pasig City Children's Hospital, the current Covid-19 referral center in the municipality.
He also warned: “Pag may nag-suggest na Vico Lab, magmumulta ng 500.”
As of August 8, Pasig City has recorded 2,231 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which 1,234 were active cases.
