Quiapo church is placed on lockdown after a visiting priest tested positive of COVID-19.
According to Fr. Douglas Badong, the historical church has been on lockdown since June 19 after a priest who stayed in the church during the period of strict community quarantine contracted the virus.
After the travel restrictions eased, the priest returned to Mindanao where he tested positive. Badong also noted that the priest had a stopover at Cagayan de Oro before arriving at his hometown where he was tested.
The church has placed over 80 staff under the mandatory 14-day quarantine. They also took rapid tests and the results came out negative.
Quiapo churchgoers are still not allowed inside the church premises. They can instead hear the mass through the LED screens placed outside the church.
The historical church is on lockdown until July 4.
