It has been reported that 24 of the 41 workers who tested positive for the virus were working at the largest COVID-19 referral facility in Mindanao.
In Davao region, at least 41 healthcare workers have been infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Being the defense placed in the front lines in this pandemic, puts emphasis to the fact that healthcare professionals are at high risk of catching the virus.
According to a report, Dr. Ricardo Audan, the chief of clinics at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), mentioned that 24 of the 41 workers who tested positive for the virus were working at the facility. SPMC is known as the largest COVID-19 referral hospital in Mindanao.
Among the 24 patients, 12 of which are doctors, six are nurses, and six are administrative staff members. It has been reported that two office staff members had died, while 14 had recovered. Only eight patients are remaining at SPMC as well as other isolation facilities in the city.
Meanwhile, priority testing will be given to suspected COVID-19 cases and health workers in Cagayan De Oro. The test will take place at Northern Mindanao Medical Center, which starts on May 21, Thursday.
