Volunteers are highly appreciated at these times on need.
The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) K-9 Corps, in partnership with Strategic Power for Animal Respondent (SPAR) Philippines, an online platform that promotes and disseminates information on Animal Welfare Rights, is searching for volunteers who are willing to lend a hand in rescuing the animals affected by the Taal Volcano eruption.
MMDA K-9 Corps posted on Facebook about a deployment alert looking for volunteers.
“We need volunteers who can help crate and transport abandoned pets in Batangas and nearby provinces to a shelter or foster home,” the caption read.
Many volunteers expressed their willingness to help and rescue abandoned animals. MMDA K-9 Corps and SPAR were grateful for the interest, but emphasized the need for having enough manpower, vehicles for transportation, as well as to bring canned goods, bottled water, pet food, and supplies.
The operation, aside from rescuing the animals, also aims to look for possible temporary foster homes for them. As of now, they have on-going rescue operations, saving the animals that are affected by the eruption.
