The tourism industry in the affected areas, particularly in Tagaytay City, has suffered a tremendous setback, this is according to a statement released by the Department of Tourism on Tuesday, January 14.
DOT also expressed their concern about the “public safety including foreign and local tourists affected by this fortuitous event.”
The agency also said that they are hopeful that tourism in the area and the other affected areas in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (CALABARZON) region will prove resilient, and recover from the current situation.
“DOT joins the nation in hopes and prayers that Taal's volcanic activity would soon dissipate, as millions of lives and livelihood are imperiled by the continued eruption,” they wrote.
