It’s a bird, it’s a plane-- no, it’s a hot air balloon! One of the biggest and most colorful events traditionally commenced in Pampanga is set to return to the Philippine skies this 2020.
The organizers of the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta announced on their official Facebook page last January 3, Friday, about the new venue of the event.
“Hint: We are flying to the south of Manila! Please stay tuned, we will post more details on our page soon!” The caption read, along with the eye-catching event poster and the dates March 6-8, 2020 indicated in it.
This hint was met with excitement from several netizens who commented their guesses on the possible new venue in the South. After a one-year hiatus since the 22nd Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta last held in February 2018 at Clark, Angeles, Pampanga, the hot air balloon festival is back with a bigger and more exciting celebration.
It was announced yesterday in the event’s social media page that this year’s edition of the balloon fest, the 23rd Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, will be held at San Lazaro Leisure Park, Carmona, Cavite
For this year’s balloon fest, the fiesta takes after the carnival theme, with the fest titled, “Flying Carnival 2020.”
“A weekend of (almost) everything that flies.” The subtext in the poster read. The image showcased a colorful, carnival-themed event along with an enjoyable line-up of activities that visitors can do in the 3 full days fiesta. From March 6 to 8. the activities include viewing of the Hot Air Balloons, Airport Events, Aviation Seminars, Fly Market, as well as Food and Entertainment.
They also announced that tickets will be available at Ticketnet outlets, Ticketnet online, and the fest’s official website. General Admission tickets are priced at PHP 500, while the VIP, Seminar, and Discovery Flight tickets will be available on PIHABF’s official website, as well.
An estimated number of 100, 000 visitors often take delight in the open field event that features the Hot Air Balloons, and activities such as Tandem Paraglide, Helicopter ride, and more. At night, visitors can enjoy the market and the fireworks display that will light up the sky.
The annual festival began in 1991 after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Since then, the event has been acknowledged as the biggest aviation event in Asia. This spectacle gathers not only visitors and spectators but also aviation professionals from all over the world. Several Aviation seminars are provided, wherein a lot of applauded pilots share their knowledge and experiences in flying planes to young and aspiring pilots.
The event gates will open at 4:00 AM, events will start at 5:30 AM and commenced the whole day, until 9:30 PM.
