Philippines closes 2019 SEA Games athletics competition with 10 golds, 6 silvers, and 6 bronzes
Decorated Filipino tracksters Eric Cray and Aries Toledo asserted their dominance in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) by defending the title in their respective events at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
The Olongapo-born Cray ruled the men's 400 meter hurdles in the SEAG for the fourth straight time, after clocking in 50.21 seconds in the playing field.
Cray has been ruling this event since the 2013 SEAG in Myanmar.
This is Cray's second gold in the 2019 SEAG after being part of the 4x100 meter mixed relay team who copped the gold in
Vietnam’s Cong Lich Quach and fellow Filipino Francis Medina snag the silver and bronze medals in the event, respectively.
Toledo, meanwhile, remained Southeast Asia's Man of Steel after topping the men's decathlon event with 7,033 points.
Vietnam's Van Su Bui (6,911 points) and compatriot Janry Ubas (6,769 points) finished with silver and bronze, respectively, in the ten-event discipline.
The Nueva Ecija native duplicated his golden finish in the 2017 SEAG at Malaysia to cop a second consecutive decathlon title.
